This once grand house, in
which I stayed forty years ago, belonged to the head of the
village. It was green and lush then with extensive gardens.
Now the water has gone elsewhere and so have most of the people;
scattered throughout Iran, USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.

And
one of the houses of the few who remained. (Not this lady. She is just
visiting with other relatives)

More
visitors inside the house. (Well not the lady and gentleman at opposite
ends of the room. They are our hosts). Tea and an abundance of local
fruit will soon be served. Delicious pomegranates, oranges and dates -
many different verities of each. Although natural wells have long
since dried up, more recently mains water has been piped in. Once
again the village is becoming green and there is work for the younger
people.
Incase I gave the wrong
impression about life in this village, please note the two refrigerators
working off mains electricity, and out of sight a telephone, television
set and, of course, the ubiquitous mobile phone, oh yes, and possibly a
computer too. And it is only an half-hour's drive to the nearest town
when you want an evening out. If you fancy the quiet life, it wouldn't
be a bad place to retire to - but I'm not saying exactly where it is. So
there!
